Fitzrovia Chapel Wedding Photographer
Some London weddings just have a certain feel to them. Effortless, a bit iconic, like they’ve tapped into something timeless without trying too hard. Harriet & Sam’s day at Fitzrovia Chapel was exactly that. Stylish but relaxed, full of personality, and quietly confident in every decision they made.
Fitzrovia Chapel is a venue that stops you mid-sentence the first time you walk in. It’s intricate, almost impossibly detailed, all gold and mosaic and history layered into every corner. It has the grandeur of a traditional church, but without any of the formality that can sometimes come with it. It feels intimate despite how striking it is. As a London wedding photographer, it’s one of those spaces that does a lot of the heavy lifting visually, but still leaves plenty of room for real moments to happen.
Harriet & Sam met on their very first day of university at 19, which feels like the kind of origin story people try to write and rarely get. Years later, Sam flew out to Amsterdam to surprise Harriet on a girls’ trip and proposed in a park. Simple, thoughtful, and very well executed.
Their wedding carried that same energy. Nothing overcomplicated, just really good choices, done well.
The ceremony itself felt quietly emotional, set against that incredible backdrop, and then everything shifted seamlessly into celebration mode. On arrival at Old Queen Street Cafe, cocktails appeared, canapés started circulating, and the whole day began to loosen up in the best way. There were live singers, jazz weaving through the space, and at one point Sam picked up a guitar and performed. Just him, doing his thing, surrounded by people who love him.
Speeches leaned heavily in Harriet’s favour (as they should), full of warmth, humour, and the kind of stories that land perfectly in a room like that. Half laughter, half emotional ambush.
We moved between digital and 35mm film throughout the day, which felt right for something that balanced classic and modern so well. Digital for the pace of it all, the movement, the quick reactions. Film for the quieter frames, the ones that feel a bit softer, a bit more nostalgic. As a 35mm film wedding photographer, it’s always that combination that tells the story properly.
This is the thing with weddings like Harriet & Sam’s. They don’t rely on big gestures or over-the-top moments. It’s all in the details—the music, the people, the choices that reflect who they are without needing to explain it.
As a documentary wedding photographer, those are always the best days to be part of. You’re not directing anything, just watching it unfold and catching the moments as they happen.
Effortless, personal, and very, very cool.
