Dulwich College Wedding Photographer
Some venues do a lot of the work for you. In a way where you walk in you think, right, this is going to look good no matter what happens. Imogen & Alastair’s wedding at Dulwich College was exactly that. Big, classic, unmistakably London, but still relaxed enough to feel like a proper celebration rather than a production.
Dulwich College is a venue that feels almost cinematic in scale. The kind of place you don’t fully take in at first because there’s just too much of it. Grand architecture, long corridors, huge windows, and rooms that feel like they’ve seen a lot over the years. It’s easily one of the most impressive wedding venues in London, especially if you want something that feels both traditional and a bit unexpected.
Their ceremony took place in the Old Library, which is as good as it sounds. It’s intimate in feel, despite the scale, and creates this really beautiful contrast, grand setting, but very personal moment. As a documentary wedding photographer, it’s the kind of space where you don’t need to interfere. Just let it happen.
Afterwards, everyone spilled out onto the terrace for drinks, which is where Dulwich really opens up. Light, space, people relaxing into the day properly now that the ceremony is done. It had that easy, summer-in-London feel. Glasses clinking, conversations starting up, no rush to move things along.
Dinner was held in the Great Hall, which… is exactly what you’d hope for. Big, dramatic, full of atmosphere, but still warm once it fills with people. Long tables, great food, and that slow shift from polite conversation into something louder, more animated, more fun. It’s one of those rooms that evolves as the evening goes on.
Imogen & Alastair’s whole day sat in that perfect space between fun and formal. Black tie energy without any stiffness. Everything looked incredible, but nothing felt overdone. Just really good choices, executed well.
They met on Hinge (as all modern classics do), with a first date on the South Bank, and later got engaged in the exact same bar. Full circle, no unnecessary complications. Their plans for the future are similarly grounded, staying in South East London, building a life together, doing more of what they already love. No dramatic reinvention, just continuing something that already works.
As the evening kicked in, the dancefloor opened, the DJ got going, and things shifted into full celebration mode. The photobooth was busy, drinks were flowing, and the whole place felt like it had properly come to life.
Dulwich College gave them everything they wanted. A big London venue, beautiful spaces, and a setting that carried the day from start to finish without missing a beat. Add in a solid group of people, good food, and a couple who clearly enjoy being around each other, and you’ve got a day that just works.
As a London wedding photographer, venues like this are always a bit of a gift. But it’s the people in them that make it what it is, and Imogen & Alastair made it a very good one.
